Created by a handful of Canadian men in 1991, on the second anniversary of one man's massacre of 14 women in Montreal, the nationwide White Ribbon Campaign was formed in hopes of urging men to speak out against violence against women and girls. The Gala is patterned after the campaign's core message and encourages men in our communities to become UP-standers and allies with women in attendance.
#MayaEffect Scholarship Award
Are you a high school senior who has been affected by the issue of domestic violence or is using your voice to raise awareness around the issue?
Submit an essay about your experience no less than 500 words, 12 point and typed CONFIDENTIALLY to info@lovelifenow.org, for a chance to be awarded $1500 toward college tuition.
Submissions due by February 23rd, 2024 and will be announced and presented at the Gala.
Award's HER-story
Created in 2019 in memory of LLN Board Member, Antonio Arrendel’s daughter who left us suddenly in September 2018.
Samaya (Maya) and her sister would happily accompany their father as volunteers to many of our domestic violence awareness events. The effect of her volunteerism to help in that capacity, is what we hope lives on through this award., as she continues to live in our hearts each and every day.
