BROWN BAG & CARE AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INITIATIVE
One study in Massachusetts found that 92 percent of homeless women had experienced severe physical or sexual assault at some point in their lives.
In an effort to combat this issue, LLN (year-round domestic violence awareness arm) started brown-bagging lunches and care packages to distribute to homeless in the city regardless of gender, since abuse goes across the board. Since then, this initiative happens each quarter, and you can be part of it.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
❖ VOLUNTEER: Meet us at distribution location by 8:45 a.m. each quarter to help to hand out ‘Brown Bags and Care Packages’ to those in need and/or join us on Assembly Night to put bags together!
❖ DONATE: Create a Drive at your office or in your community to collect NEW care package trial size items (pictured above are examples of items you can get from Dollar Tree), or donate brown bag lunch items – sliced white bread, oven roasted turkey deli meat, single-serve bottled water, tangerines, single serve cookies.
