White Ribbon Night Gala – #WRNG
Created by a handful of Canadian men in 1991, on the second anniversary of one man's massacre of 14 women in Montreal, Canada, the nationwide White Ribbon Campaign was formed in hopes of urging men to speak out against violence against women and girls.
LLN's White Ribbon Night Gala was patterned after the campaign's core message and encouraged men in our communities to become UP-standers and allies with women against DV.

HER-story around the award
The award was created in 2019 in memory of LLN Board Member Antonio Arrendel’s daughter, who left us suddenly in September 2018.
Samaya (Maya) and her sister would happily accompany their father as volunteers to many of our domestic violence awareness events. The impact of her volunteerism in that capacity is what we hope lives on through this award that was awarded annually to various high school seniors, as she continues to live in our hearts each and every day.
