I really struggled with the question of what 2 items to bring. Some of the first things that crossed my mind were smart devices that might make it easy to find me if I were careless. So I would have a bag packed with all of my important documents and some cash, as well as a burner phone and any small, precious items I could fit (e.g. my grandmother’s wedding ring) that are in no way associated with my abuser– to remind me that I am loved.
